I apologise.

I have looked again and Ramos does jump up to head it. I think the problem is that, surprisingly for him, he doesn't really commit to it. I think had he stuck his head right in he may have got dangerous play. But, as you say, ref would have got lynched.

Also, unlike him, he never appealed for dangerous play. I think the ref may have seen it as a bit of a half-hearted attempt and just thought "fuck it".

Denilson on his day was up there, and I mean that 100%

That Brazil team of the late 90s played some spectacular football, genuinely exciting times

Why was it dangerous? Just because the ball was high? If a Juve bloke had tried to head it then yes, it would be dangerous, but as they were three yards off him and made no attempt to head the ball its not dangerous.

Re: Ronaldo
Well I'm not a huge Maradona fan but you can't deny the bloke was a genius, in my view, Zidane was the best with C Ronaldo and Pele a close second

Re: Ronaldo
Cough - Well aware of that. I'm a huge Maradona fan, but when you see the level that Ron and Messi have played at for over a decade and their obscene goal records etc, it's ridiculous to say that they aren't the 2 best ever. It is there in black and white.

'should we go for him in the summer?'

Re: Ronaldo
Private Dancer, Maradona may not have won a European cup at Barca but he single handedly won the league with Napoli and then went on to win the UEFA cup

Can folk please stop talking about the cripple Carroll. Bloke aint worth the steam of your piss.

Re: Ronaldo
It was a great goal but I believe Carrolls was better, technique and it was like an exocet, if both Hennessy and Buffon and a few of their mates had been in goals they would not have stopped that incredible strike.

You missed Devo at no.1

Re: Ronaldo
Just to wade into the debate....but sorry to say Ronaldo's goal should quite clearly have been disallowed for dangerous play....whereas Andy Carroll's was an absolute peach. Having said that think the ref would have been lynched if he had tried to strike it off.!

Private Dancer 5:05 Wed Apr 4
Re: Ronaldo
You're an ignorant bastard, Sold, or maybe just on a wind up. Messi and Ronaldo are the 2 best players ever by a country mile. As great as Maradona was he wasn't even a success at Barca and didn't even win a European cup.

Pushing me very hard to change my opinion that Maradona is the greatest footballer this planet has ever seen!

Re: Ronaldo
its not a debate, you're saying Carroll's goal wasn't as good because of Henessy. I'm saying no keeper would save it, especially an ancient Buffon

Eerie Descent 4:17 Wed Apr 4
Re: Ronaldo
What the fuck has the keeper and opposition got t9 do with scoring an overhead kick?

If it's bearing 5 men then chipping the keeper, fair enough, but outside of that you're talking bollocks.

Mike. I think you'll find that's YOUR opinion not me talking bollocks, which is MY opinion. But thanks for such an insightful comment and joining in the debate
